The iconic Fendi Baguette from Sex and the City in the 1990s was the very first IT-bag. A small, compact handbag with a short strap, it is carried under the arm like a French baguette. As Sex and the City was getting more and more popular, Fendi lent the bag as props for the show. In the episode when Sarah Jessica Parker’s character Carrie Bradshaw is mugged on a narrow city street, she tells the robber who wants her bag that "it is not a bag, it’s a Baguette”. Since its introduction the Baguette has undergone tens of thousands of variations, and its sales exceed a million.
