Wool purse with floral metal decoration inlaid with green glass, Atelier Eldo

The donor, Mrs U.L. Frank-Domp from Enschede, was the owner of 'Atelier Eldo'. The luxurious department store Maison de Bonneterie in Amsterdam wanted to order in 1941 handbags from her because the Paris style of her designs. Mrs U.L. Frank-Domp, had to go into hiding during WWII because of her jewish background. A friend saved the three bags for her during the war. Shortly after WWII, she made bags from the leather jackets of repatriated soldiers and displayed them in the window of her parents' piano shop and she started her atelier in Amsterdam.
