Travel case carried by Prince Bernhard (1911-2004) of the Netherlands, Scherk in Berlin
The aviation travel case carried by Prince Bernhard (1911-2004) who was married to Queen Juliana of the Netherlands (1909-2004) is one of the few items belonging to a member of a royal house that now belongs to The Museum of Bags and Purses' own collection. Prince Bernhard probably had it made by the Scherk brothers in Berlin around 1937 closely following his marriage. Every item in the case is engraved with a crowned letter 'B'. This silver aviation travel case demonstrates Prince Bernhard's greatest hobby: piloting an aircraft.
