Handmade reticule by Jeanette Alida Mulder to celebrate the liberation of the Netherlands from the Second World War

The reticule is made of striped cotton in blue, orange and white with an orange cotton base, the colours of the Dutch flag and Royal Family. This Liberation Bag was donated to the Museum of Bags and Purses in 2016. The bag was made in 1945 from pieces of cotton by Jeanette Alida Mulder to celebrate the liberation of the Netherlands from the Germans. Mrs. Mulder, together with her fiancé, was part of the resistance in Groningen during the Second World War.
