Martine Carol(1920-1960)  was during the late 1940s and early 1950s, the leading sex symbol and a top box-office draw of French cinema, and she was considered a French version of America's Marilyn Monroe. However, by the late 1950s, roles for Carol had become fewer, partly because of the introduction of Brigitte Bardot.
